How to Use the Crypto Price Spike Scanner
A practical walkthrough using the measurements and controls available in Scalpy.
1. Set meaningful thresholds
Choose a preset, then tune formation time, return time, minimum movement, taker volume and retracement. Add a 24-hour turnover floor to reduce thin-market results. Rules can be global or specific to a market.
2. Read the three event prices
For an upward spike starting at 100, reaching 102 and returning to 100, retracement is 100%. Returning to 99 is 150% total retracement, displayed as 100% + 50% past start. Percentages refer to the original spike size.
3. Inspect timing and chart context
Short intervals use source timestamps and may share a timestamp. The chart opens wider to show context. PIN CHART holds the event while new ones arrive; FOCUS SPIKE zooms closer. A partial event-trade candle is not the complete minute record.
4. Check coverage
Only the latest 20 events matching enabled filters are shown. Light feeds cover limited market sets. Verify the source label and status before treating the absence of an event as evidence that no spike happened.
